ON FEELING SORROW FOR TRUMP

Fact is, of course, I do not in the least feel sorry for Trumpy. Nevertheless, it is a sad human fact that he is rapidly deteriorating both physically and mentally. It is always sad when a human being begins to fall apart emotionally and/or mentally. And his friends and relatives are all beginning to abandon him as well. It is not going to be a pretty demise over the next few months (weeks? days?). Nevertheless, his departure will hopefully open the way for the world, as well as for our Nation and the Democratic Party, to take stock and begin setting things back on course. It is almost impossible to believe and understand how much damage Trump has done to the world, as well as to the United States, with his childish, selfish behavior – along with the support of the Republican Party. Let’s hope the citizens of this country can take full advantage of the vacuum his loss will create and begin to help find our way out of the Trumpy morass. The celebration of our 250th year and the Fourth of July may provide some impetus.

By the way, Mari and I have been watching World War II newsreels, and I am struck by the surprising parallels between Hitler’s “external” power and Trumpy’s “internal” power, politically speaking. Of course, both employed the “propaganda” technique, but the manipulation and the need for egotistical reinforcement seem sadly familiar. We have been living through extraordinary times – and I have done so twice!! The Founding Fathers never anticipated anyone usurping the Constitution and Congress for their own aggrandizement. Maybe we need some additional addenda to the Constitution.
